The CDC released new Civil Surgeon Tuberculosis (TB) Technical Instructions, effective May 1, 2008. The changes in the instructions regarding the evaluation of immigrants and refugees residing in California, who are applying to adjust their visa status, has led to a significant increase in number of referrals for completion of the 1-693 form for applicants with a normal chest x ray and a positive Tuberculin skin test (TST) to Valley Health Center at Lenzen - TB clinic. This letter clarifies our county policy and procedures regarding the referral of applicants seeking status adjustment under the new TB screening guidelines, effective immediately.
